- Obtain a certified copy or copies of the marriage certificate at the county courthouse where the marriage occurred
- Notify government agencies (Social Security Administration, Department of Motor Vehicles) and businesses (banks, credit card companies) of the name change
- Supply a photocopy of the marriage certificate to any agency or business requiring proof of marriage
